Function (6) - Text

Back where I'm from, there were never any seasons like there are here.

Every bit of the weather was controlled and left up to the desires of the people. Did more people want it to rain? To be sunny? For flowers to bloom, letting their petals float away on a breeze? Everything left up to a vote.

It feels strange to watch everything turn dull and quiet with nothing's input but Nature's own, and just as stranger to know that it will all bloom once more very much the same way.

Do you think that most situations can be like that- a two way street that has the possibility to flourish or fade away?

Or are there things that can't ever be changed from 'good' or 'bad' once they've happened?

Just some thoughts on a nice day.

Sorry to hear that.

[That's about as eloquent an expression of sympathy as Blake can figure out. Wait, hear? God damn it. This is why he always had one of the other cops talk to dead people's relatives.

He'll just hope to slip that by and move on to safer topics.]

Then they must not have been any good at their jobs. We'll do better.

If hearing music makes somebody start riots, he should stay the hell home.

Not so bad. I got a headquarters and everything. So far no bombs or riots on my watch.
lieutenantantichrist: (you're the perfect bait)

Oh, sure, there's some bitching and moaning, but nobody's actually tried to stop me. They'll get over it. You don't have a government if somebody isn't complaining about it.

Even in a world where people can vote on the weather, I bet you heard plenty of people whining when they didn't get their sunny day.

I'm just glad the weather is one thing nobody ever figured out how to blame on the cops.

Come to think of it, that's a real good idea. It'd be nice to have somebody to deal with all the public gladhanding bullshit.

[Blake is, as you may have noticed, not terrible silver-tongued.]

They might. I haven't tried it. I'll try the kind of people whose brains don't revolve around magic animals first. People with some experience in the field.

Hey. This place you come from, where everybody votes for everything, you must have plenty of times you had to herd cats to get anything done.
lieutenantantichrist: (you seem awfully happy today)

As soon as you can. Come on down to the headquarters in Goldenrod if you can. If you can't, that's fine, it's the kind of job you can do from a distance no problem.

Good to have you on board.

[blake she hasn't quite agreed yet]

[Blake grins broadly down at his screen.]

I like the sound of that.
