Back where I'm from, there were never any seasons like there are here.

Every bit of the weather was controlled and left up to the desires of the people. Did more people want it to rain? To be sunny? For flowers to bloom, letting their petals float away on a breeze? Everything left up to a vote.

It feels strange to watch everything turn dull and quiet with nothing's input but Nature's own, and just as stranger to know that it will all bloom once more very much the same way.

Do you think that most situations can be like that- a two way street that has the possibility to flourish or fade away?

Or are there things that can't ever be changed from 'good' or 'bad' once they've happened?

Just some thoughts on a nice day.

Really? What kind of people do you know?

[adai]

One of my friends is a bit on the quiet side. He tends to go with what others want and is always trying to please his "brother". They're not actually related, but they're very close. His brother is the opposite - he's loud and boisterous and has a very commanding presence.

[He pauses for a moment after that's out there. He... should probably be speaking in the past tense, shouldn't he? Well, it's too late to correct himself now.]

Anyway, they don't always see eye-to-eye on things, and I think they'd take things very differently in a situation like this. Though they're close enough that I'm sure they could work out any disagreements they have.

A case of opposites attract... I see.

They sound like very interesting people to be around.

[adai]

They are. It's thanks to them that I was able to leave my village, so I'm very thankful I met them.

[ladywithnovoice]

Is it alright if I ask what they did?

[adai]

What who did? My friends or the people in my village?

[ladywithnovoice]

I meant your friends, sorry.

[adai]

Oh no, it's alright! I'm not really sure where to start with them - they've done a lot for me, but explaining it is kind of difficult. They crashed into my village one day and turned my life upside down, but if they hadn't, I wouldn't be in a very good place. I ended up going with them because of something that happened and I got to see more of the world. It hasn't been all good, but I'm very glad to have met them.

Just to clarify- do you mean they literally crashed into your village?

[adai]

Quite literally. They fell from the surface; it was a bit shocking.

[That's kind of a huge understatement...]

[ladywithnovoice]

[Give her a second. A part of her hadn't really thought that was an actual possibility after all.]

I can imagine. I hope no one got hurt.

[adai]

[You learn not to question things after awhile...]

No, no one was hurt there. I'm not really sure how now that I think about it...

Lucky miracle?

[adai]

Yes, I suppose so. That's not surprising, since they've lived through a lot.

[...well, Simon has lived through a lot.]

[ladywithnovoice]

And were you traveling with them before you came here?

[adai]

I was, yes. We were fighting together with many other people. Things weren't going all that well though.

[ladywithnovoice]

I'm sorry to hear about that.

We don't have to talk about it if you don't want to.

[adai]

...I've spoken about it to a few people here and they've all reassured me that everything will be alright. Things might look bleak now, but there's always hope. It's been very nice to hear. I don't want to bring it up and ruin the conversation, but thank you for the offer.

It's the least I could do. We're all pretty far from home. The least we can do is offer one another solace.
