Function (4) - Text/Video

Some Pokemon can be really hard to find, can't they? I spent all day yesterday hoping that one in particular would let me find them, but it's harder than it looks.

I guess they can't all be eager.

Since I've been performing to an empty set for so long, maybe I'll let this performance be a bit more public.

Take 53.

[The post suddenly changes to video as Red sets it up against her backpack. Anyone looking past her might be able to recognize the dim layout of Union Cave at one of the many pools about. This one seems to be one of the largest, water disappearing into the darkness ahead past the little camp Red has set up.]

[There's a Chatot perched on her should as she goes to sit by the water's edge. After a few moments, some humming starts to echo throughout the cavern. It's a duet, the Chatot seeming to 'hum' along with.]

[Off in the darkness, something seems to shift it and makes the water ripple towards the shoreline.]

[Red's reply might come a bit late.]

[....Huh.

Veronica probably wanted to say something, but she'd gotten caught up in the humming. Now, she looks confused, but kind of happy.

Someone will probably have to shake her out of this.]

[Red can't herself, but she's a bit busy to start with. She continues to just hum, smoothly looping it back again. The Lapras off in the distance seems to come a bit closer, but still not close enough.]

[There's a tap to the Chatot's feet, who flies off to hover about the other Pokemon still humming the same song as her trainer. While she continues to lure the other nearer to the shore, Red turns slightly to pull a Pokeball out from her bag. That's around the time she notices the screen on her 'Gear has changed and there's a small blinking light letting her know someone's actually checked in on the feed.]

[Smiling slightly, she waves before placing a finger up to her lips.]

[It's slow at first, Veronica having spent more time simply listening to the hum of Red's song. But, she slowly sees the plan that's forming before her eyes.

A very clever trick, luring someone in with soft and sweet sounds before laying the trap. Veronica remains silent, focusing on the events happening now.]

[The Chatot continues to bring the Lapras closer, twisting around to glance at her trainer every now and then. It's only when Red finally gives a nod does the music suddenly change.]

[Chatot's Sing is considerably different in sound compared to the soft tune Red was humming, vibrant and sharp in the echoing cave. The effect is seemingly immediate, the large head of the Lapras drooping and her eyelids falling shut. The Chatot lands there, looking pleased with herself.]

[With that taken care of- for the moment anyway- Red tosses the Pokeball and watches the large creature disappear into it in a flash of red light. That robs the Chatot of her perch, but she doesn't seem to mind. As the bird flaps around trying to snag the bobbing ball out of the water, Red picks up the 'Gear.]

[Instead of staying to video, she switches to text.]

Hi. Like the music?

I've heard it's called Lapras. There's been a lot of bats and rocks and fish, but nothing on that end so far.

My friend and I didn't encounter one in the cave either. I would be very careful in there if I were you. It's easy to get lost.

I've noticed. Is it because it's so dark around here?

That's certainly part of it. Several of the paths look the same and the rocks are very slippery.

I've been trying to stay on my Arcanine for a lot of it. She helps light things up.

As long as we don't get lost for too long...

That's great! You keep doing that. I know I don't need to tell you if you've already made it into the caves but be careful around those ledges--especially near the water.

Don't worry. I haven't bought a swimsuit yet, so I'd like to avoid a swim.

...I should probably keep an eye on the person I'm traveling with though.

I wouldn't recommend it. The water is freezing.
And yes, I agree. Keep an eye on anyone you're traveling with. You can never be too careful in a cave.

Are there a lot of them you have to travel through in Johto?

No, thank goodness!

It just seems like a lot of rock type Pokemon in here.

Seems like they'd be pretty easy to spot but I might be wrong.

[Veronica continued to watch, eyes trained on the Lapras and the Chatot. Seeing such a simple move put an enemy to sleep that easily was surprising. She'd never seen a Pokémon move like that in action.

And, as soon as it starts, it's over. She watched as Red picked up the gear and started texting, Veronica switching to that as well.]

Yes, I do. I've never seen it used for something like that though.
