Function (1) - Text/Action for Route 29

[Eventually, after punching Royce and a couple one sided conversations and getting the hang of battling before anything else, Red finally discovers her own 'Gear has a text function. She actually types a lot... It's just that none of it really goes through, every line deleted. There's so much to say, she doesn't even know where to start.]

[Well... Royce is on information gathering duty, as much as he hates talking with people, so she finally decides to go with something more mundane.]

I don't know who voted for all the rain, but I don't suppose anyone wants to let a lady borrow an umbrella? [A pause before she adds-] Or a pack of cigarettes.

[And because she can't help herself...]

As for these Pokemon, are there any kind that can sing? Or any more dogs. I wouldn't mind another if I could figure out where to find one.

[For anyone in New Bark or on the route itself, they'll be able to see Red along it along with an Electrike that's constantly chasing Pokemon out of the tall grass. They're both actually rather quiet, but she's quick to look up when she realizes there's someone else nearby. Well... Someone besides Royce, who's nearby as wel and who she's also keeping an eye on.]

Sea monsters that shoot ice and can sing you to sleep. Plus, I'm pretty sure they pick up Perish Song.

[And with a name like that, you'd probably think deadly singing, but of course that wouldn't fly in a world this squeaky clean.]

Not exactly. The worst it can do is make the Lapras and its enemies faint. So nobody dies, but it's still a pain to deal with.

[But that just makes it fun to exploit... Hmm, and with Whirlpool, it could really help stall. He'll have to make a mental note to tell Sora about that, since he's got one of those guys on hand.]

[Give him a second as he flips through his Pokédex. Something tells him Cherrygrove is outta the question, but...]

You could always check the Breeding Center. That'd be the quickest route. Otherwise, you'll have to head out to Union Cave or the Safari Zone.

Exactly what it sounds like. It's an open space to go out and catch exotic Pokémon. And unlike most routes, it's broken up into different habitats, so you get a bit more variety than you would hunting through grass or wandering through caves.

A couple times, but these days I've got so many Pokémon that I can't go too overboard.

Trust me, once you hit the fifty mark, you've basically got your own traveling zoo.

Guess it depends on your training style. The reason I've got so many is because I like having variety on my team. It just means I've got a lot more mouths to feed.

Personally? I think it makes a huge difference in battle strategies, but there are people out there who stick to one type, so it's not required.

I just like being able to rotate my team, that way I've got a Pokémon for every situation.

Heh, well, I've been here long enough to pick up a few tricks. Even wrote a guide a while back.

Anyway, let's see... Electric types are weak to ground, so you'll definitely want something to cover its weaknesses. Water and grass are your best bets, but ice works if you're willing to deal with added weaknesses. As far as water types go, Swampert's a good pick. Bulky, and it's only got one weakness, but there's a lot of other Pokémon to choose from.
