ladywithnovoice | Function (1) - Text/Action for Route 29

[Eventually, after punching Royce and a couple one sided conversations and getting the hang of battling before anything else, Red finally discovers her own 'Gear has a text function. She actually types a lot... It's just that none of it really goes through, every line deleted. There's so much to say, she doesn't even know where to start.]

[Well... Royce is on information gathering duty, as much as he hates talking with people, so she finally decides to go with something more mundane.]

I don't know who voted for all the rain, but I don't suppose anyone wants to let a lady borrow an umbrella? [A pause before she adds-] Or a pack of cigarettes.

[And because she can't help herself...]

As for these Pokemon, are there any kind that can sing? Or any more dogs. I wouldn't mind another if I could figure out where to find one.

[For anyone in New Bark or on the route itself, they'll be able to see Red along it along with an Electrike that's constantly chasing Pokemon out of the tall grass. They're both actually rather quiet, but she's quick to look up when she realizes there's someone else nearby. Well... Someone besides Royce, who's nearby as wel and who she's also keeping an eye on.]

Apparently it is, in some places. But none of the games I've played before have ever left me dripping wet at six on a Monday morning, trying to unlock my door after going out to buy cat food.

[On the other end of the line, she gives a small quiet laugh. It adds a pause to the usual ones that already come before her replies.]

It sounds like there's a story behind that.

Cats tend to cause stories with their very existence, but let's just say that cats that also happen to have the power to create money from thin air and throw it at you can afford to be even more demanding than the average feline.

The one called Meowth, if you wait a little before evolving it. Once it knows Pay Day, you can get enough money to buy a different umbrella for every day of the year.

I don't think I have enough carrying space for that.

Thanks, by the way. I'm Red. I know you said no umbrellas, but how about cigarettes? I'm traveling with a smoker. You know how they get.

We're on that path that goes out of that little town... New Bark? Think your delivery bird is going to need a face to know who to look for?

Depends. If fifty people showed up today and have decided to travel in pair, a description or distinctive trait would be useful. The bird herself should be easy to recognize; she'll be gray and larger than any other creature around.

I've only seen the two of us around. Still, better safe than sorry.

[With that awkward side note given, Red finally turns on the video function on her end. Even with the rain, she still looks rather put together, brushing bright red hair away from her face carefully. The camera is directed down, showing an Electrike looking up expectingly, and then towards a distance where a man with dark curvy hair and a Magnemite is.]

Your nicotine-addicted acquaintance, then.

[Well, that hair sure should be easy to find.]

Excellent. That'll be plenty enough for Princess to find you. She'll get there as soon as she can.

No need for that. You can thank me by not getting eaten by Rattatas on the way, or not letting your Pokémon eat cigarettes like some other people.

I think we'll be fine from Rattatas. I have a pretty good guard dog with me.

But I'll be sure to remind Royce to be careful with his smokes.

Good. A good guard dog and carefulness will get you far in this world, at least until the weather and the ghosts decide to get funny.

Ghost-type Pokémon. Annoying little critters, especially in groups. And especially when they shove their masks at people.

I see. I'll keep an eye out for them and make sure Royce doesn't poke them too hard.

He might be a little too interested in these Pokemon.

Being interested is healthy. Being too interested is just asking to break your mind trying to figure out how a dog can father an egg on a cat.

He might take that as a challenge although I don't think he studied in biology.

Some challenges are not meant to be conquered.

...Such as the ledges. Did anyone warn you about the ledges?

Ledges come with a warning here?

Not an official one, which is a grave oversight. But they can't be climbed. At all.

Sounds more like a cliff than a ledge.
